Guidance Office
At Cardinal Valley, child guidance specialist Sherry Newsome Howard provides individual and small group counseling, classroom guidance lessons quarterly, crisis intervention, referrals for community services, and Section 504 services.
Students can come by her office anytime. She keeps Post It notes outside the door in case they want to leave a message. Children can also be recommended by their teacher. Mrs. Howard helps students learn anger management skills, how to get along with others, etc. She is happy to serve our students!
Mrs. Howard has been Cardinal Valley's child guidance specialist (school counselor) since 2008. Previously, she taught third and fourth grade. She has a master's degree and Rank 1 in counseling from Morehead State University and a bachelor's degree from the University of Pikeville. She has over 20 years of educational experience in the private and public school setting.
