School Board Seeks to Fill District 3 Seat

The Fayette County Board of Education is accepting applications until 5 p.m. Nov. 20 for candidates to represent board District 3, which encompasses the eastern section of the county, including Hamburg, Chilesburg, and outbound Richmond Road. The selected applicant will hold office until the November 2024 election, when they will have the opportunity – along with other interested candidates – to run for a full four-year term. 

Application Process

At its Oct. 23 action meeting, the board accepted a letter of resignation from member Tom Jones, who was elected in 2020.

"I would like to thank Mr. Jones for his service to FCPS, our students, and community," Board Chair Tyler Murphy said in a statement. Superintendent Demetrus Liggins echoed his sentiments, adding, "Mr. Jones' tenure on this board has showcased an enduring commitment to education and an unwavering belief in the potential of every student within our district."
